Science was never my best subject, and he understood that. So he went through all the lessons carefully, then he got to genes. Of course, my being stupid caused me to think that he was talking about jeans, and I explained how those work. All he did was laugh and explain the other type of gene. He was the best tutor ever, and God never should have taken him away.
The spine of the book was covered with leather, and was worn. When I opened it, I saw the spine almost came off. I asked the librarian about it, and she said I could buy it if I wanted. So I did, and that book changed my life.
"Starlight, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may I wish I might, you're the star I'll wish on tonight."
"I've lived a century and have never fallen in love. Why did it have to be with you?" he asked, cupping my face in his hands. I smiled. "Guess it's fate."
The gong sounded, and the race began. She watched him run, crossing her fingers and praying for him to win. The first lap was finished, and he was in the lead.
The train ride was long and painfully slow, stopping at every possible station, it seemed, just to piss me off. I looked out the window and watched the train stop at yet another station, not knowing the person that would get on at this stop would change my life forever. In a negative way, of course, because that's just how screwed up my life is.
I scoffed at him as he smirked. "You think that just because you wear that stupid leather jacket and act like a bad boy that I'll fall for you?" I asked. "Yeah," he replied bluntly. I put my hand on the back of his neck and pulled him down so that we were face to face. "Well, you're absolutely right," I whispered, and kissed him.
He picked me up bridal style, and I wrapped my arms around his neck. I could feel the blood trickling down my cheek, and I just buried my face in his chest. I was safe now, a little beat up, but safe.
There was no collar on the dog, and I picked it up. "And what's your name?" I asked and it licked my face. I laughed and carried it inside, already thinking of a few names.
I took the bow in my hand and placed the hairs on the string. I looked up and caught his eye. He smiled and mouthed, "Good luck." I smiled back before looking up at the teacher. "And begin," he said. I took a deep breath and began to play the test.
