My hand trembled as I slowly slid the silver key into the lock. I didn't know quite what was behind that door, but I wanted to find out. Really! I exhaled as I heard it click the lock out of place, then carefully pushed my way into the room.

I slouched in my seat, streaked blue hair slipping down to cover my face. I hadn't done anything wrong, honest! It was Devin's fault. He provoked me, and then my fist just kinda....wound up in his face. Or, something like that...

I slowly slid open the cabinet door that held my deepest secrets. A shoe box full of tiny slips of paper, a notebook covered in thoughts, and a poster of who I want to be. Make yourself extraordinary. NEVER LET THEM TAKE YOU ALIVE.

I sat at my computer screen, staring at the text. Our teacher had asked us to write a list of at least 50 things no one knew about us. I had gone onto the internet for inspiration, and found at least 68. She had also asked us to present them tomorrow in class. The thing is, I'm not sure I wanted anyone to know these things. I don't know...

I stared at the cake, eyes just barely peeking over the table. My mouth began to water as I eyed the frosted treat, planning the best way to sneak it out. My mom would yell at me if she found out I had eaten it, but it was too great a temptation to resist.

I peered down at the card in my hand. It said to take walk for two miles west until I hit a river. I didn't know what was waiting for me there; the card had appeared in my bag shortly after school let out. I was wary - odd things had been happening around here. People going missing and the like. Disregarding all caution, I sucked in a breath and headed forward.

He peered up from under his hat as rain poured over the brim. His cold eyes darted from side to side as he carefully examined the others on the street. Any one of them could have done it. He just had to figure out who.

I tucked the rose into my hair, though it contrasted heavily with my copper hues. Jason had given it to me, along with a song and a kiss. He was leaving. Most of the men his age were. I didn't know if I would see him again. None of us did.

I sat there, strands of my black-with-pink-streaks hair falling into my face. I blew them out and slouched down more. I couldn't believe I was here. What did I do? Nothing, that's what! It was all James's fault...
