It was nothing fancy. Well, maybe it was... but who were they to call her conceited? Just because she liked to show off a little? Just because she knew she was the greatest huntress in the entire neighborhood-- no! In the entire city! So there was a dead mouse on the doorstep every few days. Wasn't that what she was supposed to do? A demonstration not only of her skills, but of her love for her owners. Wasn't that what being a house-cat was about, after all?
Through the trees, I knew I was getting closer. I cold smell the blood of the rabbit pulsing through its veins as it tried to escape. Escape me? The fox? The trickster? The One Swifter Than the Wind? I didn't think so. No matter how many mazes I had to weave my way through, I would find my prey... and catch her.
