I crossed my arms over my chest, and stared up at him with as much defiance as I could muster. "You have no power over me," I huffed, and it was true. I didn't need his approval before I did anything. In fact, he could go and screw himself for all I cared. So I gave him the middle finger, and then just walked away.
She paused, lifting her foot up from the sidewalk. She could see the soft pink strings stretching from the piece of used chewing gum she had just stepped on, and she made a face at the wretched substance. These sneakers were brand new, and on top of everything else that had happened today, this was definitely not making her day any better.
The bandages did little to stop the pain that throbbed from the deep laceration of her forearm. She couldn't believe that it had actually gotten this bad. The beatings. That's all they used to be...but she knew that this time he had been a little more drunk and a little more angry. Now she would always have a scar from the knife that he pulled on her.
The simple phrase slipped off of his sultry lips. "I want you," he cooed, and I was his slave. I had never meant to be snared in the grasp of a man such as he, but that mistake was mine and mine alone. So here I stood, held in the arms of a dangerous fox...but I was a nimble rabbit.
