  4. Bleak. I can’t say that I know much about the word. I’ve not really experienced it. But then again, maybe I have. I freshman year was kind of bleak, I guess. I was a new kid for the first time ever and, therefore, shyer than a baby bird.

  8. bleak makes me think of winter afternoons. The bare trees with snow clinging to the branches and nobody is around. It makes me think of loneliness and walking alone by a pond in the park where everyone you used to know used to gather.

  14. Future. Bleak is always used to describe things that will happen. I think. There are probably exceptions. But you never hear of a bleak past, do you? Always the future. I’m gonna find a new use for this word. It deserves better.
