  12. once I read a book about sadako and the thousand cranes. I remember this book made me extremely emotional because it was about a little girl who gets cancer because of radiation from the bombs dropped on japan in the 1940s. I didn’t really understand what nuclear war or cancer was at that time of my life. I think I cried a lot during this book. the cranes symbolized her struggle to heal, if she folded 1000 paper cranes, she would be well again. I think she died.
