He was meant to get straight A’s, work the perfect job, and win awards for everything he did from waking up in the morning to going to sleep at night. I was meant to struggle through school, pray for some work at a department store, and win an award for perfect attendance, because getting an award for showing up was the best that I could do. When he looks at his life, though, and tells me that he’s been missing out on something, it makes me realize; success is overrated.

  21. Reggie sat down to write his great novel. He had long believed that everyone has a good book in them, and now it was his turn. Writing what he knew, he wrote an action novel about a guy who played the most exciting video games on his super-charged XBox while sitting on a laser-powered sofa. The book would have been a great success if not for two reasons: 1) he had chosen a demographic audience less predisposed to get up off the couch to buy books, and 2) he only got halfway through the first paragraph before his Halo tournament started.

But cold hard cash, never really seem to solve anyone’s problems. Maybe, if I find my own definition for it, I might actually see the point in striving for it.

That is why many are so happy when they finally succeed in things.

  35. What is success?
Is it saving the metropolitan from certain danger, or getting a B- in that science test you had last month? From everything that i have ever heard, success is a good thing. Too bad for, I’d never know. I guess that’s the problem with being “cursed” as my father likes to put it. Nothing can ever seem to go right for me. I tend to blame it all on my second-uncle-twice-remove-run-over-by-a-llama-and-lived-to-tell-the-tale.
