  1. Sweat drips from my hairline down my nose: I’m suffocating in the heat, but the dampness cools me. My arms strain and my back stiffens, I pull hard, holding my breathe, praying that the little boy survives. The fall may have broken his leg, but hopefully not his soul. Now I wish it were summer.

  2. Summer. Again with the summer?

The flip flops were lonely. They had been sitting in the sand all day, the waves rolling gently over them, as their owners frolicked. At the end of the day, they remained, forgotten. Just like me.

  3. light. That’s the first word i thought about. i don’t know why. Summer is beautiful. It’s sunny. It’s hot. people go to the beaches. Summer is the actress in OC. Why the hell am i doing this? hmmmmmmmmmmm. wheeeeeeee

  4. Being new to the education field, I am now back in the ranks of those who can actually get a little bit more out of the summer season. As a kid (like I’m a moose now or something), everything in your life is focused on those glorious months between about May and Labor Day – check local listings.

When you “grow up,” you have to take those summer moments in smaller doses. Perhaps it is an action-packed, albeit stressful week or two sometime in June or July, or a few brief moments when you can sit out on your deck and grill some burgers or chicken.

  5. the time of the year when we all smile and burn, in that order. then we peel, frown, go off the sun and wait for the cooler days to arrive in autumn. we then look back on summer being great, even though it was the same as every year before.

  6. itswarmand nice it’sthe only thing that makes living through the winter here worth it, can’t wait for it, it’salways too short, warmth

  7. Summer Lovin’ – that song from that damn musical. I remember watching a rendition of it performed by my high school’s student council. We all sat in stunned silence in the bleachers, eagerly anticipating the next chapter of our lives.

    Taylor Baldwin
  8. I can’t wait for summer to come round, the cold bites into my flesh like something live and hateful. Can’t afford to put the heating on so it’s warmer for me to go camp in the wood and have a big fire . . .stay drunk.

  9. Summer. The sun in our eyes. The breeze in our hair; nothing could be better. So many memories made, so many that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

    Emily
  10. Summer is a-coming in
    loudly sing cuckoo
Cuckoo is just about right – we no lomger believe that summer will undoubtedly come – it might and it might not – cold summers, frozen winters, floods in various parts of the world the weather has no certainty any more. No wonder women have to buy lots of clothes – who knows what the temperature will be from one day to the next.

  11. Summeru

  12. No.
    No.
    No.
I don’t want to be reminded of the warmth I can’t have.
I don’t want you to tell me of the warmth, the tender warmth! Why is it not here?

  13. what a alovely time of the year’ the miost sponge, fresh strawberries and the most enticing coctails by the pool awake the smell of the brown skin baking under the heat.

  14. I’m a child again as I think of summer. I am immediately taken to the outdoors to enjoy the sun, nature, camping, swimming, friends, and family. The innocence of youth, the freedom of being young, the comfort of summer.

    Christina
  15. the best season for most but not me. i missed school. i know i’m a geek but i don’t care. why would i rather get hit by a hard ball instead of getting lost in a delicious story or wonderful formula?

    shane patrick
  16. It reminds me of the sun and green grass. And hapiness. A sweet sucking feeling in my gut. And the moment when you’re free to leave school for the summer. I love it simply.
    Enough said.

  19. In the summer, dreams come true. In the spring, they fall apart. In the winter, they’re hibernating. In the fall…well, maybe they fall apart more in the fall than they do in spring. In spring, maybe dreams just…sort of blossom, like that little first bloom on the first of May, when it’s not quite warm enough out for short sleeves yet, but some people say to hell with the weather and go around in tiny bikinis and only shorts. It’s a wonderful world, sometimes, in the spring, until the last breath of winter rushes out and murders that little bloom that tried too soon.

  20. Summer, hmm Singapore doesn’t have summer. Sometimes I wish Singapore has seasons because I can see those amazing stuff like snowman, flowers, etc. Too bad Singapore is sunny all year round. The end.

    Larry Quek
  21. Summer is one of my favorite times of year. I’m learning that I like warm. I used to think that living in Rochester that winter was the only season that a Rochesterarian should like but summer is slowly creeping into the number one season spot.

  22. Summer is a wonderful time in Florida. The palm trees are swaying, the beaches are full of people, and the sun is beating down on the pavement. Summers in Florida are extremely hot, but they’re also beautiful. I enjoy when all the seasons come, because they are all equally important and beautiful in nature.

  23. this summer was the best summer of my life. it should’ve been the worst since my uncle went to jail, but it was by far the best. i met the best people, went to the best parties and had the time of my life. i met a bunch of new friends who all helped me get through the tough times of the summer. and it all started with the wiz.

  24. summer is a great season. it is often hot, but good for swimming. I love summer because it means no school, and tons of fun. I love to swim, which mostly only happens in the summer. The sun turns my skin to a nice golden brown, which looks better than winter’s pasty white. Summer is probably my favorite season. I work in the summer as a lifeguard. I get to interact with many people, which is fun, I guess. Summer is a very laid back season, in which many people take vacations and just have fun with family and friends. If I could always live in the summer time, I definitely would.

  27. hot weather and small clothes make Summer a trial for fatties like me. I dress in swoopy middle aged burka which just makes people look at instead of not seeing, invisibilty would work so that no one see my sweat or regret.

  28. Summer is sand on a beach, people breaking their reserve to speak to eachbother, summer is the sweet blue of the sky and the myriad colours of flowers. It is the chirping of birds returned from far lands and the soft sun upon your face. it has the swish of long skirts and the slap of sandals.

  29. hot. pools. boys. i love it. bikinis. hot girls. tanning. beaches. holidays. christmas. my birthday.

  31. It was the first day of summer when it happened. I’m not quite sure why, or when exactly on that day it happened, but it just did.

When my life changed? No, not really. Something… better? Worse? It’s your choice to interpret it as such.

Such is a strange feeling to return to a home you rarely stayed in. To begin an old life again. To simply feel…

    Reborn?

  32. I bet it’s pretty weird celebrating Christmas in countries where it is summer when it is celebrated. Us strange northerners with our snowmen and warm clothing.

  36. sounds pretty good right now, even in the mild texas winter. there are all sorts of imagery that comes to mind, some tend to be stereotypical and others more of what i experienced. perhaps there is something pleasant about summer because that is when school ended; a type of freedom that we all yearn for, perhaps the weekend gets a good wrap for the same reason.

  37. The sun crash down from the cloudless sky, leaving the top of your head crisp and red. The sweat forms in sickly beads and slides down your bulbous nose, caressing your skin with its salty kiss.

    Luke

  40. I looked up one day and realized that summer died with my youth. It was hot. Hot as Hell, but I was in Afghanistan. How did I get here and when the Hell is my vacation? It would be a long scary time before anything like that came along.
