  2. In my head as I stared out the window, umbrella at the ready, was that song from the film Bambi. “Drip, drip, drop, little April showers…” But the thunder and lightening and dark grey clouds that lingered above indicated that this wasn’t just a little April shower. Nonetheless, I loved storms, they were just as beautiful. Just as calming.

  3. im in no need of an umbrella when the sky rains negativity upon me i always keep myself dry. i never allow anything to reign upon me and defeat me im to close to my dreams for them to batter me down. i don’t need a shield from it i can protect myself and i was taught never look away for what is seen is something to be cherished as an inspirational experience. so for you keep your umbrella and living in fear i attack everyone of my opportunities and seize them all i am king i am ruler i am my own self.

  7. The umbrella collapsed under the rain. It wasn’t even heavy rain; the umbrella was just old. Old and missing the fervor it had when Grant had first bought in on his first day in Hong Kong. To be honest, he didn’t know if it was rain or merely heavy smog settling over the city.

You think it’ll protect you, but what are you kidding?

    (dance.)
There’s nothing to be afraid of. It’s just water, right?

    (acid.)
It’s deadlier than it looks, and it’s suffocating you.

    Drown.
(and you faintly remember what you threw away so recklessly.)

  10. n this is the dame thing as the last one i wrote. guess that’s what i get for staying up all and waking up with nothing to do the next day. umbrella’s, really, are kind of pointless…at least to me. it’s so much more fun to go walking through the rain, feel the drops on your skin, then step into a hot, warm room, and curl up in front of the tv with an oversize blanket and a hot chocolate. atleast, that’s what umbrella’s make me think about.

  11. If I would have remembered my umbrella, I never would have sold my stuffed octopus to those gypsies.

  12. it was raining hard against me it felt as if there were a rain cloud over me just holding it all in and letting it out all at once. I want an umbrella to push aside those raining feelings of sadness, anger and regret.

  13. In the continuum of time, we have a covering, an umbrella if you will, that we know is there. It’s our lifespan. We are shielded from the vagaries of the universe because we are under the umbrella that is as wide as our life is long. We can see it from side-to-side (mostly) and we feel protected from the great unknown of space, that infinite maw that would swallow us and leave no trace. After that, we don’t know what comes down next.

  15. an umbrella puts a layer of protection between you and the wet surroundings. It puts a new brightly colored perspective on the rainy world around you. you can look at the once gray sky which is now a bright cheerful red. you begin to walk with a spring in your step and remember how as a child you would jump in every puddle and skip on the sidewalk making a splash with every step. a smile blooms on your slightly damp face. “im singin in the rain just singin in the rain what a joyous feelin im happy again.”

  19. I saw the clouds forming as I was walking to my car and I new it would be a day to remember. I love the rain. I love to stand out in it like a madman, waving my arms, letting mother nature kiss me all over. I never do that anymore though. I am to sophisticated and cultured and mature to be free. So I grab my umbrella.

  21. It was the cutest umbrella, and it made my heart ache. A tiny thing, she wore ladybug galoshes and a hot pink raincoat, guarding herself from the downpour with a miniature transparent umbrella. It was in that moment that I first noticed the absence present in my life, the fact that I was here, no wedding ring and no family, and she was hopping from puddle to puddle, her mother’s loving gaze following her. I couldn’t help but wonder if my sacrifices were worth the wound in my chest.

Umbrella also makes me think of sad loney days that didnt go so well. umbrellla can be a word that reminds anyone of a bad day and no one was there to comfort them. just like it would in the rain.

  29. I walked outside in the rain and unfurled my umbrella to guard my body against the beating of the water. As I walked, I considered my day, my routine, my schedule, the things I had to do, the people I had to see, the places I had to go. My hours were filled to the brim but dry. I turned my umbrella upside down to catch pools while I walked, drenched, to an unknown destination.
