  3. What do I even say about this? Gears on a car? I’m not so hot with those. I remember the time Tim made me learn to drive standard when we were driving home from Sk. I kept stalling the car in the middle of an intersection. Grinding the gears. Jody, Lo & Tim were laughing so hard they couldn’t get me out of the intersection. I started to cry & just got out of the car. Left it in the middle of the intersection for them to deal with. Dumb gears.

  7. She knew very well what grinds his gears, and she became really adept on abusing this exploit of hers that she discovered in him. “Such an ungrateful girl.” is all what he can say from all the constant mockery and insults he gets from her on a daily basis. But despite their cat-and-mouse relationship, they knew that they needed each other.

  8. Allana spins slowly on her heel, eyes roving around the room and its endless supply of ticking clocks. Some are beautifully finished, brass and silver glittering in the patchy, filtered light; some are in a variety of pieces, winding gears exposed to the open air.

  9. what makes things work, move forward, go. sometimes they can be difficult and sometimes easy. work harder when they get difficult to get to the finish line. When easier still work hard to prepare for the difficult times. Like riding a bike, you have hills and flat roads.

Done.

  11. The innards of the machine suggested a small city of circuitry and gears – the culmination of millennia of scientific progress, now commonplace and indistinct.

  12. She clamped down on her tongue and tried to will down the furious blush growing like a wildfire on her face. But it was too late, she could tell by the mischievous gleam in his eyes and his playful smirk she’d said too much and now he knew she wanted him.

  14. The wheels and gears in her head were so visibly spinning out of control that I took a step back, putting my hands up in self defense. “Okay, you are overthinking this.”
She sighed, the way she always sighed when someone said something factually incorrect that wasn’t worth arguing. “Okay.”
All of the fight had gone out of her and I couldn’t help but avoid the awful truth that it was my fault.

  22. The gears in my head started to whirl when he had finished speaking. It seemed so simple, then the gears seized up. If it were so simple, why had no one ever thought of it before. But as he continued to speak, I could feel my neurons firing, in synch and saying “Yes!” Space flight between star systems is possible, inexpensive and we could fly away tomorrow.

  25. gear is interesting contraption the is a chain of a motor to get the job done. One small gear connected to one large gear can turn many many times.

  26. They were a well-oiled machine. Nonstop, strong, a perfect fit into each other — keeping each other going, moving as a whole unit.
Well, that was the plan. It didn’t often work. After all, they were mere humans. Cooperation has never been humanity’s redeeming quality.

  27. Wait a minute, let’s stop and take some deep breaths. We are spinning too fast and we’re grinding our gears. She shook her head and asked him to repeat what he said, in plain English without the car racing references. She got a blank look from him for her effort.

  28. The clinkety clanking of all things in motion surrounds me. Everything moving! Everything going! DO! BE! BECOME!
The noise, the call to action the — all of it really is such a cacaphony of noise and action and sound and everything else that it freezes me in place.
As I beg for just a moment of silence so that I can THINK the mechanisms race on.

  29. On a daily bases due to my role I need to be on my toes and ready to switch gears in order to deal with multiple personalities. I sometimes wonder how i survive the day or my job.

  31. In your head, make your thoughts go round. But if one stops working everything is in disseray and you have to take your time to fix them. You have to watch to make sure they don’t get rusted or fall apart. They are in technology and help the work go round. Gears make up life.

  32. how things turn. You have gears in you head. In technology it is everywhere. But how are they used and are they used well? Do you oil them in your cars or take care of the ones in your head? These simple questions are not what they seem. You really need to look at it from another point of view.

  33. What grinds my gears?! Question of the day, ironically! Too much for 60 seconds. Sadly.

  34. Whenever I think about this, I think about machinery, or something cranking. I’m not sure. I love all things tech, but gears don’t really come to mind. Maybe it’s because it’s more like physical hardware? I work by software, not by hardware. Also! If I forget, it sounds like something turning in your head!

  37. I decided to shift gears in the conversation and talk less about politics and more about my family. Joshua seemed interested in hearing all the funny stories about my sister’s adventures; Ulrich, on the other hand, looked bored out of his mind. I ignored his eye rolls and loud sighs, instead choosing to listen to the outbursts and chuckles of my closer friend, his face flushed with from amusement beneath his impressive blond beard.

  40. They all depend on each other. If one of them doesn’t work, non of them will. I think that’s how relationships work too. I’m not sure. But I never said I wanted to be sure.
