  8. My question is, why is optimism a “silver lining” in the cloud? What happened to gold? Is optimism not good enough for gold? Gold lining seems to imply a higher value, if you ask me. Or how about a platinum lining? See, here’s the thing about silver – it tarnishes and needs to be cleaned repeatedly. If optimism tarnishes so easily, then what’s the point of the lining at all?

  13. Sometimes there are silver linings in life. We expect certain things to go a certain way but they don’t always. But occasionally something good will come out of that, and I think that’s a beautiful thing. It’s important that we always see the bright side, because what kind of life would we be living if we never saw the silver linings?

She couldn’t read the message on the machine, but the numbers in her balance said it all. Her sister hadn’t sent the money yet! Cursing, almost crying, she stormed away, almost forgetting her card.
