  1. We were waltzing around it all night –
I knew she knew that I knew

    but

    it seemed easier to
    just laugh and hope
    it would all

    just
    go
    away.

  2. As I was waltzing around the room, it came to my attention that I was not alone. I glanced over my shoulder and saw someone staring at me.

  3. On first seeing her, his heart melted. He could no longer hear what his friend was saying, and the music had faded into a mild hum in the background. They had come here to work off the stress of one of the toughest weeks of the year, and they had every intention of getting drunk enough to forget everything, not just the work of the last five days. He half turned to his friend and shouted over the din; “Sorry Gerry, something’s come up, I gotta split!”. Gerry looked at him in surprise. “You’re not going back to the office, are you?”, he asked incredulously. Todd smiled, pointed at the source of his distraction and laughed. “No, I’m on a mission from God!” Gerry nodded, made a sign of the cross over his friend, and pushed him into the throbbing, pulsating crowd. Six hours later, Todd was still dancing, waltzing on the pier with his new found love as the sun rose over the waves.

  4. Waltzing Matilda….I remember signing the song when I was a child. I love the sing-songy feel and the flowing movements that came to mind in this song.
I could play for hours with this song in my head but, I also imagined waltzing at a grand ball in a castle in Europe. Fun, fun. To get dressed up in a fancy ball gown and twirl around hour after hour with a handsome gent. Curtsy and bow, dip and twirl. I love to

  5. You waltz forward, the path unclear, covered in dust with not a footprint marring its protective layer. You don’t know where this leads, but the bubbling in your chest and the curiosity brimming in your consciousness propels you to find out where you might go.

  6. They were waltzing across the floor, eyes locked and backs straight. Their feet were bare and they danced in the shadows.

  8. In a way you could say that your pencil waltzes on a paper, just like a couple waltzes to the sound of music (not talking about the movie).

(By the way, welcome Erin Moore. I see you are new to One Word.)

  9. Mom and Dad used to waltz on occasion, mostly in the living room. Vienna / Strauss waltzes. I used to think that, by teaching me 1-2-3, 1-2-3, Dad was really some sort of waltz expert. I mostly do love the music.

  10. Just a good ol’ day at the park. One smiley afternoon, spent waltzing around under bridges with soda pop in hand; grinning at the old ladies on the bench.
“I do say,” she politely frowned, “I’ve grown a little tired of your shenanigans.”

  11. This is the first thing I’ve ever written on OneWord

  12. There he was, just walking into the room like he owned the damn place. This isn’t the first time I saw him waltz in like this. With an air of dominance, control. It felt as though he did own the place. I won’t lie, I was always impressed with his way of grabbing my attention and everyone elese’s. There was something slightly sexy about it. Something lovely.

  13. “Do you think you can just come waltzing in here like you’re some Romeo come to save his Rapunzel!?” Lylia pushed Jax away.

“Do you think that your big blue eyes and perfect smile is going to change a damn thing between us? You think that just because we’ve got history- just because you come back after years of making me miss you…You think that I’d still love you!?

Well guess bloody what…” her voice trembled and she buried her now wet face deep into his chest, where she felt most at home.

    “You’re right.”

  14. Meta

    directions, signals set aside
    footsteps spring black rivers
    candlesmoke, thin
wraps in fine strands across the fallen moon

I am headed for the jungle
    I shall not return
    the movements here
    are not for your knowing

inside the temple that I am
    all is still

    inside the temple
    rings a bell

    inside the bell, each ring
    a temple of stillness

    within
    I am seated
    silent
    gazing.

  15. he held her hand, as they danced, waltzing under the moonlight.
he held her hand, as they walked, chatting under the sun.
he held her hand, and he said, “lets walk this road together, forever.”

  16. I broke an arm while waltzing once. I was in the kitchen, waltzing by myself, when my husband cam in and grabbed me by the arm and threw me against the counter. When I screamed out, he came to me, and held me, and said it will all be okay.

  17. Waltzing through flowers
    Dancing through fountains
    Turning around trees

  18. Waltzing into the party, the woman wore all black sequins, from her head to her toes.
She sparkled in the dim lighting. It was dazzling to see.
I sent her a smile and a slight nod and she smiled, cranberry red lips almost in a sneer.

  19. Waltzing. It sounded easy, but man, was she ever wrong.. Emire was a great teacher; making everything sound simple enough and being patient as she tripped over her own feet and stepped on his, but his easy-to-understand words couldn’t make the dance easier to learn.

  20. I entered the ballroom that night. The pleasant sound of that beautiful waltz came into my ear. All the sudden, I didn’t care that I hadn’t come with a man. I danced by myself.

  21. And we waltzed. I held her close. Even closer than we danced in life. Closer than our skin could ever have been. But oh, did we waltz! There were no beings in the universe as intertwined and eternal as we were in that moment.

  22. I was playing Chopin’s waltz in C minor when I noticed my little sister.

Standing by the piano, shifting her feet one two three stroking the rug, hands flying up, a smile that showed she was out of this world.

It was then that I knew two things for sure:

    1) I’m good at the piano
    2) She was born to dance

  23. A moment shared between two souls in a matter of steps to a catchy tune.

  24. “I’ve never tried waltzing,” Riley admitted.

“That’s okay,” said Alice. “I’ll walk you through it.”

She had Riley grab her waist and take her hand. The moment Riley went pink was the same moment Alice smiled. Some day, the two girls would become much more comfortable with one another. This was just the first step, in dance and in life.

    Belinda Roddie
  25. The beauty of the dancers as they danced, waltzing together to the 16 piece orchestra in the background. There was romance in the air, fed by the music, soft lights and the joy of people moving together.

    Elizabeth A Huffman
  26. Matilda, waltzing Matilda, you’ll come a waltzing Matilda with me. And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled, you’ll come a waltzing Matilda with me.

  27. It’s amazing how much music and dancing has changed over time. Not too long ago, both were only used in romantic settings, such as a just-married couple waltzing at their wedding. Nowadays, music and dancing can be used for a variety of recreational purposes, or even for exercise.

  28. A graceful dance between two people, embarrassing, sensual, and memorizing. A German term meaning to guide one casually or inconsiderately. “I just waltzed my way in.”

    Tyiarra
  29. The music filled the room like the screams of innocents. It was heartbreaking, attention-grabbing, and everyone immediately stopped talking, stopped breathing, stopped laughing, and looked up, towards the front, where the old man had picked up a violin and begun to play. Recognition slowly dawned across the room, sweeping over them like the sun over an empty field. It was the forbidden waltz, and it would kill them all.

  30. 1-2-3. 1-2-3. 1-2-3. He danced around his partner, never venturing more than a few feet away from her. With a polite smile and a light blush dusting her pale cheeks, she swished the maroon fabric of her skirt. The candles lighting the ballroom shed light on the cloth, changing the hues ever so slightly with each flick of her wrist. A steady musical piece filled the air, a dinner consisting of lush greens and exotic meats sat warmly in their stomachs, and the wine was taking its infamous effect of those who consumed it.

  31. One word can stand for anything just like staying focus and following your dream’s, its only one word in that word is CAN…

    Devin Christie
  32. And they waltzed through the rain, ignoring the lingering stares of passerby. They waltzed through the street, staring deep into each other’s eyes. Time stopped as the purest love ever known to man was created.
