Black shadows circled around the child. He sniffled once and rubbed at his eyes not caring that they were getting bigger. Why should he care? He was lost and alone in the wilderness. If the only company he had was birds then why shouldn't he welcome then? The boy lifted his head up to watch the ebony birds and closed his eyes.

His skin shimmered in the soft light. Golden eyes, that used to be brown, widened in shock registering that his skin was no longer, well, human. A gasp escaped his mouth when Rumpelstiltskin realized what the dagger had done to him.
Shh, quiet. Can you hear that? Barely a whisper, barely audible. Really, it's there. On the tip of the wind's breadth, tickling past your ears. It's a whole new path enticing you to follow it. Just listen.
The creature growled in annoyance, continuing to claw at its back. These pesky things were getting bothersome and itchy! Why wouldn't it stop? Some of the strange items had been shed already, lying abandoned on the floor and fluttering about every time it moved, but most of it still stayed on protruding limbs.
It was almost too easy to stretch it. To bend it, to push it to the extreme. It’s funny how easily it comes, too. A little added description here, omit a word there and a whole new story is made. Twisting, swirling, never breaking. From mouth to ear to ear to ear. That’s what happens. Always in motion and never stopping.
