tucked into a corner
back against the wall
watching the sky outside
they're talking
loud voices at the edge of your attention
meaningless noises that don't touch you
monster
ugly and crawling
scars across the skin
teeth and claws sunk into
flesh and bone
You tell him
"you are not a monster"
He looks up at you
with wide eyes and a
parted mouth
There is nothing else you need to say
his face is written
shock, fear and realisation
he is
stunned into silence
You tell him
"you are not a monster"
and like that
he is yours
it's flour that cakes your fingers
pressed into clumps onto your skin
drifts as dust in the air
trembling hands crumbling
from clay into dust
a heart beneath the sands
waiting for a new horizon

can't find your love in the supermarket
maybe i don't want it
much harder to maintain
i can't eat those problems
Two feet on the pavement,
one step above the crosswalk,
and across is the vision
of you, features highlighted by
bright sunlight;
your own golden glow
leave me breathless,
why don't you?
My friends fast. I have friends who fast. Once a year, every year. From sunrise to sunset, but I forget. Sometimes I forget - many times I forget. It always makes me feel guilty, for it was important to them and it was not very good to eat or drink in front of them. It was not very nice.
