It was quilted, green and shiny and made of satin. She touches it with her perfectly manicured hands and thought, "how I wish I could take this home with me... it would go great with my new bed".

He died on a Tuesday from an accidental overdose. I didn't even know he was into drugs. We all thought maybe he tried heroin when we first heard but it was actually sleeping pills mixed with alcohol.

I love "American Psycho" by Bret Easton Ellis. After reading this book a number of years ago, before the film came out (which I also like a lot), I began to read my way through each of his novels. Right now i'm reading "The Informers", a collection of short stories, which i'm enjoying a lot.

inept

He was rather inept at this kind of thing. He lowered his glasses while raising an eyebrow and leaned on one leg. "C'mon... won't you come with me on Friday?" he asked in a desperate tone. I just wanted him to leave me alone.

bland

I needed to eat only bland food in order for the stomach upset to go away. White crackers and white bread and rice and boiled chicken with no seasoning or anything. By the end of the week I was ready to murder for some sugar, some oil and some spice.

Having to develop a sense of self-esteem is one of the greatest challenges for many people, especially if you haven't been encouraged to be yourself as a child.

He looked over the green painted fence to see if Sam was there today. The geen paint was flaking away, the wood underneath porous and sunbleached. Where the pain remained it was still glossy. No Sam. Damn, he thought. It's going to be a lonely day.

Threatening him was a mistake. From that day on he wouldn't look at me when we walked past each other in the school hallway, past all the lockers and the the doors of each classroom, where each room held angst and secrets and boredom.

bait

I used to think "bated breath" was "baited breath". I thought it meant telling someone something that would lead them into trouble, like your breath is the bait that will lure them into danger.

suit

Suit... Don't think i've ever worn one. Not sure I ever will. I'm not into the whole powersuit thing. I am very much a casual dresser. Hopefully I will never work in a corporate hellhole.
