I could really use the support in almost every aspect of life. The unforgiving weight loss, the ever increasing debts, the juggling of everything and everyone. Support in knowing I am not alone, I do not have to master all things. However support always comes with betrayal, judgement and expectation. Sometimes it is easier to just bite my lip, and take on the demons myself.

I have always been the quiet one lurking in the shadows of the room. I was always taught I was unworthy, not good enough and an easy target. It is not that I lack the boldness to stand up for myself, it is that the fact that cruel people are not worth my time.

The quickness in which the cat pounced on her prey was intriguing and also bit surprising, considering the size of it was twice of her own. I don't think the dog even saw her coming for him.

The naked walls surrounded her, calling to her for decoration. The empty closets cried to be filled. Smiling she she pulled the one thing she had made sure to pack from her bag. The silver barrel glistened in the sunlight that poured through the bare window. She was home.

Tears streamed down her cheeks, her crystal blue eyes stormy with anger. She grabbed the few items she had left to pack and threw then into the suitcase. It was the last time she would let him break her

I could hear his heart racing as he hurried down the street. He tossed his knife into the shadows, glancing around to make sure there were no eyes on him. Smiling, he slowed his pace and shoved his hands into his pockets. I chuckled to myself at his confidence that he got away with it. Shame I saw his crime, my teacher taught me to be judge, jury and executioner. He jumped as I stepped from the shadows into his line of sight, his smile fading.

I will never forget that day..... the day I lost my mortality. The day my life was taken, a new one given without a choice. It was an odd day for sunny California, cool and cloudy, calming yet the air was filled with sadness. I can remember the soft gurgles escaping my lips as I lay in a pool of blood dying. The peace that was slowly coming over my body, only to be replaced with an intense fire within my chest, every limb ached as though they were being ripped from my body

Silently she sat, perched above him in the old Oak tree. Her stormy blue eyes intently watched his every move as he pulled the lifeless body from the back seat of his car. Cate studied the motionless body, a pretty young brunette, no doubt picked up at a local bar. She smiled as she caught the faint sound of a heartbeat coming from the girl, she wasn’t dead…at least not yet. The middle aged man positioned himself above the brunette, gently sliding his hands along her bare legs, grabbing for the hemline of her summer dress. There was a glimmer of shiny silver which caught the moonlight in one of his hands. Cate ran her tongue over the tips of her fangs, as she knew his intent for this girl was nothing good. Quickly and quietly she pounced like a cat to it’s prey, in one swift motion knocking him to his knees. Before he could mutter a single breath, she sank her fangs into his neck and drank . She was intent on draining the evil from his body and if that doubled as dinner, so be it.

What else? When would things get better? She shook her head trying to clear the thoughts from her mind. Grabbing a paper towel she stabbed at her eyes, trying to hide the tears that were creeping from behind her stormy blue eyes. Silently she cursed her life as she reached for a post it note, knocking her coffee cup off her desk. She had been strong for so long, always the one taking care of everything, but now… she felt beaten and defeated. Sighing she could feel the warm tears welling up once more. Was there no end? Her phone rang and she cleared her voice, answering business as usual. No one could know her hell. She would not allow it. She was intent on surviving, while life was intent on her mental, physical and financial demise. Her eyebrow raised as she wondered who would be victorious

She lay helpless on the bed, a million tubes hooked to her peaceful body. My trembling fingers grasped her warm hands, I raised my tear stained face as the doctor walked in. He made promises of a new experimental balloon procedure which could save her life, bring her back to me. It could be inserted into her heart and she could live! I glanced at my mother who was next of kin and had to make the call. As usual she just shrugged, not a care in the world. My tears of sadness began to burn with rage. I screamed DO IT! DO IT! SAVE HER! Finally my selfish mother nodded and they came for her, taking my Grandma into emergency surgery. I paced the room, tears and prayers keeping me company as my mother flipped through the tv channels. Suddenly my heart quickened at the sound of the doctor. My legs heavy with dread as I watched them wheel her back into the room. Something was wrong. The balloon procedure couldn’t be done. Within minutes my life changed forever as I lost the one person who truly ever loved me, accepted me, my only true family.
